Oils and greases reduce friction, dissipate heat and protect components from wear and corrosion. Products are specified by viscosity grades, base oil type, additive packages and load-carrying capability. Greases are further classified by NLGI grade, thickener type and operating temperature range. Correct lubricant selection is critical to component life and efficiency.
